This article describes the friendship between Sylvia Townsend Warner, Peter Pears and Benjamin Britten in 1970s. It draws on previously unpublished correspondence held at Britten-Pears Archive Warner Valentine Ackland Archive. role that John Craske’s paintings played establishing connection Pears, details some visits covers Britten’s illness death. The also concert Warner’s honour planned by given Aldeburgh July 1977.
